Okay, so I’ve been feeling *blah* lately. Just totally unmotivated and sluggish. You know the feeling? I think we all get it sometimes. My usual go-to is a long walk with a podcast (true crime, obviously), but even that wasn’t cutting it. I needed something…more. Something with a little oomph. Something that would actually make me *feel* something other than the existential dread of folding laundry.

TWERK WORKOUT

Image depicting a Twerk WorkoutSo, I stumbled upon this idea. I know, I know, it sounds a little…out there. Me? Twerking? I’m more of a cardigan-and-herbal-tea kind of girl, not exactly a booty-shaking enthusiast. But hear me out! The thing is, it looked FUN. And honestly, I’m so tired of feeling stiff and self-conscious. I want to let loose and just…move! I’ve seen some of my friends getting into dance classes and they seem to have a blast. So I thought, why not try something totally different?

The initial thought was a little intimidating, I’m not going to lie. I mean, I haven’t even attempted a coordinated dance move since high school (and let’s just say those cheerleading days are best left forgotten). But the more I thought about it, the more appealing it became. It’s a workout, right? Gets the heart pumping, engages muscles I probably haven’t used in years (ahem, glutes). Plus, it’s supposed to be empowering! Unleash your inner goddess, and all that jazz.

I started by watching a few videos online. Some were a little too intense, but I found a couple that seemed manageable for a beginner (aka me, the rhythmically challenged). I even found a surprisingly supportive online community! Turns out, there are tons of people who are just looking for a fun way to get fit and feel good about themselves. It’s definitely more motivating when you know you’re not alone on the journey.

I’m not going to pretend I’m a pro after one session. My moves are still a little awkward, and I’m pretty sure my dog thinks I’ve lost my mind. But I’m already feeling a difference. I’m more energetic, less stressed, and honestly, I’m laughing more! It’s a great way to just let go and not take myself too seriously. Plus, who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually be able to twerk with some semblance of grace. Baby steps, people, baby steps! I’m definitely going to keep at it, and I encourage you to try it too! Or, you know, find whatever activity makes you feel good and just go for it! Life’s too short to be stuck in a rut. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go practice my “booty pops” (please send help!).
